At Your Computer People we understand your IT systems are an essential part of your business, therefore we offer both onsite and remote support to keep you online and connected.
Our proactive approach reduces downtime and catches problems before they can occur. We carry out repairs for computers and also provide new hardware as required.
Need some reassurance? YCP offer a range of flexible support contracts to fit your business’s needs. Please get in touch to find out more.
It’s great to have someone you can rely on when you need it and at YCP we understand the world of IT can be confusing. This is why we offer plain speaking professional advice and guidance when it’s needed.
From repairs to sales we are here to look after you! We also offer a range of broadband and phone services that would appeal to discerning consumers who are fed up with large faceless companies or foreign call centres.
Computer Repair & Maintenance
We carry out a range of repairs from dealing with simple issues like your email not working, to full system reloads should your hard drive fail or your system becomes completely infected by a virus.
We mostly charge by the time it takes to fix the issue you have although if your computer requires a full reload this is offered at one of two fixed prices dependent on whether you have your system driver disk(s) or not.
We can come to your home or business, but it usually works out much cheaper for you if you can bring your computer to us if at all possible. A lot of the repairs involve waiting for utilities to download, update or run and if your computer is in our workshop we only charge for time we spend actually working on it, whereas, when an engineer has come to you your bill would be for ALL of the time they are with you – it can take a couple of days to backup, reload and restore a full system so that would be far more expensive if we did this in your premises.
While we primarily work on the PC platform we do occasionally fix the odd Mac. If you have a problem with your Mac, we will be more than happy to take a look for you, but please be aware that we are not as familiar with them as we are with PC’s.
As well as fixing your computer we can also upgrade your system, this could be by increasing the amount of memory or storage it has, or possibly adding a graphics card so you can use two or more monitors at the same time – careful, this is addictive and once you have more you will wonder how you ever managed with just one!
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions
We can source a wide range of manufacturer’s laptops, tablets and hybrids – we work out the spec you need and then look for the best fit we can supply for your budget.
We also build desktop PC’s in-house to order and to your specification, from our standard office PC all the way up to high speed multi-core machines with water cooling and solid state drives (although solid state drives are becoming far more common even in lesser machines now).
We also build servers to meet your needs, these can be Microsoft Windows Servers, simple peer-to-peer or the more resilient Unix/Linux operating systems.
Whichever one you need we build to your specification and predicted capacity and can offer advice about the pros and cons of the various solutions.
From flash drives to enterprise grade hardware and everything in between, we can source most if not all IT hardware or software that you may require
We differentiate our service from the various internet sites that you can buy domains directly from in a number of ways. We offer a person service, positive renewal processes to avoid you loosing domains by omission or oversight and professional help registering and administering your domains – we basically look after the whole process for you and sometimes that piece of mind is worth a little extra expense. We run our own DNS servers and have real, UK based staff to answer your queries and discuss the options available to you. We do offer discounts for bulk registrations so please contact us to discuss your requirements.
We can register your chosen name in a range of extensions from .uk to any of the extensive range of TLD endings now available. We have standard pricing for .uk, .com and some of the other more common versions, anything not listed can be quoted on request so please contact us for more details. See pricing for .uk domains here, and standard TLD’s here.
Registration length can be up to 10 years for most domains, however, some regional domains restrict registration length, in some cases to as little as one year at a time.
The Domain Renewal process is as simple as we can make it for you, we will send you a renewal invoice in advance of the date, we aim for these to be approximately 60 days before expiry, however, some domain names have very strict renewal deadlines and these will typically be sent to you further in advance of the expiry date to reduce the risk of complications. We offer a renewal for two years by default, but this can be changed from one to ten years to suit your needs – just let us know when registering or renewing that you would prefer a different term.
Once the invoice we have sent you has been paid then we will renew the domain when it is due and you do not need to do anything further. If you have not paid the invoice by the due date we will chase to make sure you’re aware that you risk losing your domain(s), if this was your intention then we will cancel the outstanding invoice and allow the domain to expire. If we do not hear back from you and the domain invoice remains outstanding, we will attempt to contact you by all means available to us prior to you losing the domain – we don’t want you to miss out by mistake and will do all we can to help you avoid that.
While you cannot always rely on grace periods, .uk domains can continue to function for up to a month past expiry while most other domains will stop working on the expiry day. If left too far past the expiry date it may not be possible to recover the domain, or extra charges may be levied to do so – please ask for details if this occurs as the charges vary by domain extension, ideally you will avoid this situation by keeping your contact details up to date with us and paying renewal invoices promptly. Domain renewal invoices all carry an advisory notice to make sure they are paid on time to avoid risk of losing your domain
Inbound transfers can be made for just about any domain (including .gov). The process is different for .UK vs .TLD’s in so much as .UK’s need to be initiated by the loosing ISP whereas we will start the process for most other domains. In the event that the company that holds your domain currently is not being co-operative we can use our experience to help you resolve issues and get your domains moved over. We charge to move domains into our control (view here), and there are additional registrar transfers payable for TLD’s when not held with one of the registrars we primarily deal with (view here).
If you’re moving a .uk domain to us, then our IPSTAG is ‘SUPPORTED’ and our systems accept all domain transfers by default. Ideally you should speak to us and arrange things in advance to avoid disruption to services.
Outbound transfers are just as simple, and typically FOC – if your account with us is not overdue we do not make a charge for outbound domain transfers, if your account is overdue then we may charge up to a maximum of £100 + VAT to transfer a domain away, although discretionary, any charge levied would have to be paid before we would release the domain, however you can still contact the Registrar direct and in some cases they can move the domain for you without this charge. Please make sure your new provider has set everything up and is ready to receive your domain – the outbound request removes all DNS entries for the domain in question so it is important that you have either altered where your domain’s DNS is handle before the move, or that your new provider is ready to take control of the domain as soon as it moves. .uk domains move almost immediately after the request, .TLD’s often take more than a week to move over (but we will maintain DNS services were relevant until the move completes).
DNS Changes can be requested by email or by phone (although we will most often request an email confirmation just to make sure we have got any spelling correct), these will either be done at the requested time (during office hours or out of office hours by special arrangement) or as soon as possible depending on the requirements
Complaints, please see our contact us section for abuse contact email addresses to report any abuse issues with domains, if you have an issue with something we have or have not done for you then please call/email us in the first instance. If you do not feel that we have resolved your query please write (email is acceptable) to the Managing Director at our normal address / ManagingDirector@ycp.co giving details of your grievance, the steps taken to date to resolve it and why you’re not happy with the outcome. Please remember to include contact details so we can get in touch to investigate the matter fully – we will always do what-ever we can to treat you fairly and put things straight.
In addition to our general terms and conditions, and any terms that specifically apply to domain names, we also are bound by Nominet’s terms and conditions for .uk domain registration and renewals – a copy of these terms can be found at http://www.nominet.org.uk/go/terms
